Green Planet Grass is pleased to have provided a fresh new look to one of Perth’s most popular summer cinema venues.
The University of Western Australia engaged the services of WA’s synthetic grass specialists recently to provide an eye-catching makeover for the Somerville Auditorium.
UWA’s outdoor cinema is best known for the Perth International Arts Festival’s Lotterywest Film Season, which runs from November to April annually. The auditorium holds 1,000 people on deckchair-style seats with room for an extra 200 on the now immaculate lawns amongst the pine trees on the edge of Matilda Bay.
Green Planet Grass has installed a lush-looking lawn from the firm’s popular Saturn range, which has provided a durable and easy to maintain surface for years to come.
Managing director of Green Planet Grass, Jeff Dennis, said: “We are delighted to have provided a new synthetic lawn for UWA in the fantastic setting that is the Somerville Auditorium. The ground was looking pretty bare before we installed the new synthetic turf but the area has been totally transformed by our installation team.
“The results look quite stunning and UWA are already saving thousands of litres of water as well as cutting down significantly on their maintenance bills. The cost of the new synthetic lawn installation paid for itself in just over 1 year as it cost UWA almost the same as the total new lawn installation to reinstate the natural lawn following every cinema season.
“The Somerville Auditorium has been a popular outdoor cinema for many years and we can’t think of any better venue to enjoy a film on a warm Perth evening.”
