East Fremantle Gets New Wickets

East Fremantle is increasing its commitment to sustainable synthetic grass with the installation of a new match cricket wicket, and is set to save on maintenance and irrigation as a result.

Following the City of Rockingham and City of Gosnells, amongst several others, who engaged Green Planet Grass to produce new wickets in Baldivis and Thornlie respectively, the Town of East Fremantle have committed to their own new facility.

The East Fremantle wicket will be designed and constructed by Green Planet Grass and, like many local government authorities and sports clubs in Western Australia, the Town council will be able to make savings as stringent water restrictions make it increasingly difficult to keep lawns and recreational surfaces in good condition. The new match wicket follows the installation of three cricket nets for East Fremantle Cricket Club.

Maintenance and costs in keeping grass green are becoming a growing problem for local government authorities, which is why many are turning to the major advantages of investing in artificial turf. Eliminating the need to water the surfaces that are home to countless leisure activities for Western Australians is becoming more and more appealing for our local councils.

Experience and expertise, backed up by professional accreditation give commercial and government customers’ confidence in Green Planet Grass, as the firm’s reputation for high performance sports surfaces such as cricket wickets, golf, tennis, basketball, netball and soccer grows. Not far from the site for the new cricket wickets, the Town of East Fremantle recently invested in a synthetic grass interchange area at the nearby oval, which is openly used under any weather condition.

“The cricket wickets we are installing for the Town of East Fremantle will be green all year round and this is just one reason why local authorities are turning to Green Planet Grass as we help the council to save money on maintenance and water bills.”

“While traditional grass cricket wickets and other sports surfaces will fade and suffer deterioration in our hot, dry climate, synthetic grass will stay green all year round – for many years to come. With the Water Corporation set to continue with sprinkler rosters, synthetic grass also provides an excellent way of providing a high quality surface without the need to break the law in order to keep turf green.”

Synthetic turf of course requires no watering and therefore eases the pressure on water resources. Most council will expect to save thousands of dollars by installing Green Planet Grass sports surfaces or landscaped lawns.
