With the number of municipal sports facilities turning to synthetic grass on the rise, the City of Gosnells is the latest to turn to an all-year, low maintenance surface for cricket wickets.
As one of Australia’s favourite sports evolves in the 21st century with the growing popularity of the T20 short form of the game and big money media deals, smaller clubs and local councils are also considering the potential of synthetic grass.
Ask any cricket groundskeeper how easy it is to maintain a good wicket and they will probably spend a few good hours chewing your ear off. We are lucky to have the great, iconic WACA ground on our doorstep in Perth. But for those who can’t dedicate a full-time team in ensuring their surface in top condition underfoot, synthetic grass has the great benefit of being a long term, sustainable option that will save serious amount of money when it comes to maintenance and irrigation.
Green Planet Grass is currently working on two new match cricket wickets for the City of Gosnells at Walter Padbury Reserve in Thornlie. Having installed several similar surfaces for councils and sports clubs around the Perth metropolitan region, Green Planet Grass has built the reputation of synthetic grass specialists in our part of the world.
While synthetic grass should not be touted as zero maintenance it certainly requires minimal maintenance in most cases and of course there is no need for watering. This way, City of Gosnells’ selection of Green Planet Grass Cricket Match installation will save money for rate payers in the years ahead.
