While we consistently champion many of the benefits that Australian-made synthetic grass can bring to your home and commercial settings, some time-tested circumstances still take us by surprise.
We could easily reel off around 30 reasons why it is a good idea to install premium quality artificial turf. Most of them revolve around sustainability issues like conserving water or the improved quality of life associated with saving time in the garden – why not enjoy your green lawn on the weekends without spending most of your time doing maintenance work on it?!
It is easy then to find a number of good reasons to choose synthetic grass. But even we are surprised by some of the success stories we hear about our own products sometimes!
A couple of years ago we quoted for a reasonably large installation in a public area that had seen a fair amount of vandalism. The bare, patchy, dusty lawn seemed to be one of the lesser concerns for our customers but we designed a synthetic grass area which we hoped would be as vandal proof as possible and thankfully we have realised that ambition.
When putting together the plans for this northern suburbs area we decided to use reinforced edging so that it would not be as easy to tamper with if anyone felt inclined to try and tear it up.
In addition, we were reasonably comfortable that the fire retardant qualities of our synthetic grass would stand up to any attempted burning.
But we weren’t entirely sure how well the lush looking green grass would stand up to the spray paint graffiti test. Thankfully, over those two years, the lawn we installed passed with flying colours.
First, we installed the lawn, which made a significant improvement to the aesthetics of the area. But that didn’t stop local vandals who tried to rip up the turf, set it on fire and even made graffiti out of the synthetic grass. What may surprise many people is that the surface is still in great condition.
The flame test didn’t even made a mark because of its fire retardant properties. The turf has proven to be sturdy to endure any harsh attempts in trying to cut and rip it up. Finally, when the graffiti proponents got their paints on it, a grounds man set out with a bottle of turpentine and removed the offending marks with little effort.
In fact the, surface has been so durable and resilient that the customer has recently returned to order a second installation on an adjacent part of the grounds!
